Eagle River is my personal preference.... The first thing you will probably notice when you arrive in Anchorage is the beautiful huge mountains that surround the entire Anchorage bowl and through out most of the state. My personal preference is the Eagle River area which is located about 10 minutes north of Downtown Anchorage. Both Fort Richardson Air Force and Elmendorf Army Base located in between. Its a quick commute to work in Anchorage or to either military Posts via a 6 lane highway that is very well maintained year round. Eagle River is known as a bedroom community as most people who live here work in Anchorage.  We have a very family friendly small community where eveyone knows everybody.  Great schools with sports programs that include swimming, skiing, hockey, football, soccer and much more.  We have lots of Parks, Churches, a movie theater, bowling alley professional hockey area and just about all the amenities you could hope for.
